I store my 30-round magazines in 50-caliber SAW ammo cans (they are bigger than normal 50-cal cans).  You can stand them up on the floor plates and stack them in 4 rows of 7 magazines with enough room to stick another couple in the back sideways.  If you have Magpuls on them (the rubber kind that stick on the outside of the mag), they only fit in 4 rows of 6 due to the rubber thickness.

I store them all loaded (once tested to ensure they actually work) in SAW cans with silica gel packs in there to help w/any moisture.

NOT my picture (found it in another thread by searching)

The ammo can is deep enough to let you stick two more lengthwise on top of those mags on their sides too.  So, you can fit 32 in each can or 30 if you leave off the two on top.

I dont have enough Mag Pulls to try- but  what if you lined up the PMAGs   going the length of the can- how many could you fit in there then?

Not sure - I don't own any PMAGs.  Anyone who does care to comment?  I don't even know what the exterior dimensions of the PMAG are versus the USGI-style aluminum 30s.

That's cooler than the other side of the pillow!

A SAW can ("fat 50") holds 24 thirty round PMAGS with dust cover and Without ranger plate.  The baseplate is the limiting factor side-by-side.

You could probably toss in 2-3 twenty round mags in between them since the 30rndr is too tall to place them on top.

I only have six PMAGS right now but I fit four front-to-back (have to work it a bit due to the dust cover) and the six fit side-to-side.

and the plastic nature of the PMAG prevents that nails on a chalkboard sound (when placing aluminum/steel mags)
