Okay, so I played around with putting some pattern stuff on some spare mags that had less than ideal finishes.  While I liked messing with the pattern stuff, I wanted a tougher more standard finish.

I saw on another thread a guy used the Aluma-hyde to finish his barrel and decided to order some up from Brownells.  The stuff sprays on easy and leaves a thin coat that is supposed to be more durable than other spraypaints.

I shot them yesterday and let them air dry all day into this morning.  Then baked then at 350* for 30min to harden the finish.  I then hit them with some CLP to clean and lube them.  here are the results:

You can kinda see how thin the finish is here:

Good news is that it doesn't interfere with the mags dropping free.  The two that did drop free still dropped free and the other two that didn't felt the exact same.

Did you use Alumahyde or Alumahyde II?

AHII is available in a ton more colors, for those who don't know.

Ooops, yep the Alumahyde II is what I used.

It "feels" like it could coat close to the 16 mags that I read it was capable of.  Can't remember where I read that though.  I'd guess and say 10 easy sinse it is pretty thick once you spray it on.
