1) Can Ranger plates be installed on any magazine? For example, an HK or standard USGI mag? I'm guessing its an easy task?

2) What are the big advantages to using these?

The Ranger plates can fit in USGI mags, but i am not so sure they'll fit the HK SA80A2 mags.

2) What are the big advantages to using these?

They protect the baseplate of the magazine from damage when dropped during reloads; plus, they give you a nice "handle" to grab unto when pulling mags from a pouch or a vest.
