I just ordered 100 Okays (green follower).  Actually, it's a slit, so I'm keeping 34 (I get the odd one to cover the money order costs ).

Anyway, I'm wondering, do the green followers really have problems?  I know the older followers could tilt, but I thought the green corrected that.  No?  Thoughts?

I have about thirty green follower mags, most of them were ordered from Rock River a couple years ago. They function flawlessly in my AR's

I wouldnt buy the followers until you experience problems.

I replaced all of my green followers and am a lot more comfortable with them, plus they look more cool.  I didn't just rush out and buy them, I waited until I had the extra cash... Of course anyone who can buy 100 mags at one time must be loaded!

Like I said (or inferred), I'm splitting the order with two other people.  I'm keeping 34.  And I think I'm sticking with the green followers, since nobody is saying, "they jam up allot".

Sounds like the magpul followers are a solution to the older gen followers then and not meant to replace the green ones, as the green ones are ok?

yes they can jam, I've know one person to get a jam, one. I would be happy to sell you all the little pieces of assurance that you want for 2.95+tax. They are better, no doubt about it, but do you need it is the question. People buy HK mags at 55plus bucks for a single mag, the magpul follower is just as anti-tilt. The HK mag doesn't have the tins on the bottom that can be broken and the mag made useless, magpul has ranger and lumpy plates that protect the tins. So you could buy the magpul stuff, put it on your mag and it will be as reliable as a HK mag.

Do a search.  This topic was HAMMERED to death about a month ago.  You can read all 7 pages and decide if you want the 50 cent piece of plastic in your mags or the $2 piece of plastic in your mags.

It had been discussed here many times before that black and green followers could jam and the Magpul followers have a lower failure rate.

Personally I never had any bad jams with the black and green followers but I upgraded most of my newer mags with the Magpul followers so I could increase their reliability.

It's all about reliability/failure rates.

Get 99.5% or spend a little more for 99.9% (as an example).

Depends on your budget and intended usage of the mags.  I have magpul followers in all my "go to" mags.

the orange followers look a lot nicer in D&H black teflon mags than USGI green

If you want your magazines to look "nice" I guess that would be a good reason to upgrade.  I don't think this aspect came up in the lengthy disscussion we had a month or so ago.

I haven't had any of the green followers fail on me yet, but I am pretty new to the AR. I replaced all but a few of my green followers. Some of my mags would hang up with the mag pulls so I changed them back to the green followers and they run just fine.

Most of my mags came with mag pulls and every single one of them runs 100%.

I am more concerned with buying ranger plates than new followers. I hate the idea of dropping a mag on concrete and busting off a tab or worse!

it was a joke... hence the gay little sissy smiley face...

i've had a couple green followers bind up on me on new magazines... they are even a pain in the ass to remove sometimes... the magpul gen ii's go in smoother and feel smoother when loading the mags...

I'm not changing any of mine out (except for the older black ones) unless I start having problems.

BUT apparently the Army decided that the green ones weren't close enough to perfect and designed  new follower, that looks a lot like the Magpul.  Unofortunately I don't think these are in the system, and may never be.

The Magpuls are great. I definitely recommend them over the black/original followers.

I recently bought a bunch of Center Industries mags with green followers that I upgraded with the Magpuls and ended up converting back when the Magpuls seemed to hang up. No problems with the Okay and Colt mags. YMMV

I love buying old cheap USGI mags cheap and upgrading them with new Magpul followers  and springs.

I buy the 3 fer kits from C Products for $6.50 , It makes for a great mag.

edit
** The green USGI  followers have never given me a problem either

I updated most my mags to Magpul followers, I use the old coyote brown ones, cause no one else I shoot with does. Makes it easy to ID my mags from others....

My brother has 10 DH 30s and 2 DH 20s, all black with the orange magpul followers. I must admit, they look pretty wicked!

I have black, green and some magpul followers. No problems with any of them.

Its simple to compare, just take one mag with a Magpul follower and one with the greeny and push down on the front of the follower. What just happened ? I'll tell you, the green one torpedoed and hung up, while the Magpul just slid right on down to the bottom without a single issue. This is the very reason I replaced all mine with the magpul followers. Just like the old saying goes, isn't your life worth the extra cost for the security of absolute reliability the Magpul followers offer ? If you approach everything asking the question "how much is my life worth ?", one always ends up being able to justify the cost. I know I'd hate to lose my life because I decided to skimp on a 2 or 3 dollar part. just my 2 cents.

Define "Absolute Reliability"....are you saying they never fail?? How many lives have been lost because of a follower?  How many people on this board use their ARs for anything other than range shooting?  In the overall scheme of things over there the topic of followers is near the bottom of the list.  If I worried about somthing so trivial as to what followrs were in my magazines I would have never joined the military.  Being scared of every little thing that might get you killed one in a million times is no way to go through life.

Sorry, I didn't catch on....When there are actually serious  discussions on this forum about "what is your favorite color PMag"  it is hard to keep track of what is and what is not serious.

Quit jamming your fingers or rulers into the mags and you won't have a jam.

New Mags I get green or magpul.  I have upgraded my old black followers with CS springs and magpuls because it was a cheap upgrade.  Used my Okay mags in the desert they work well no jams.  I do not change followers just because.  If I buy new and the price difference is 40 cents sure I will get the magpul.

Now springs I dont have a clue what to get I just go with the flow.
