| Do 90+ round magazine drums have any reliability problems, or any downside at all other than price? |
|
I have a beta c mag 100rd drum that i have been using exclusively, I stopped using normal 30rd GI mags and I havent had a problem with it yet. I have dumped the whole mag at least 6 times and fired a few rounds off then reloaded and put it away countless times, I also left the C mag loaded for over two years once. The manufacturer says it can be left loaded indef. I dont really have much use for my 30rd mags anymore. I just need to order the clear backs for it so i can see how much ammo i got left. ETA: They dont lock the bolt open after the last round, thats the only problem with them, With the clear backs you should know when your running low on ammo though. Tactical reloads are a must or you may end up with no round in the chamber when you really need one. |

To my experience -- The MWG 90rd drums work well, but the offset (and constantly changing) weight is annoying. The Chinese 100-120rd mags are problematic, but can be tweaked to run fairly well. The Firepower plastic drum (I've only seen one) worked well. The Beta-C is by far (IMO) the best of the lot. I've owned a few over the years and have been happy with them. |

I've seen Beta's run 100% on M16's and M4's at Knob Creek all day long. I've never seen the 90 rounders in person and haven't any experience with them, sorry. I lucked into a Chinese 120 round drum that runs 100% so far. Mine came from a class three dealer that used it on his full auto guns and he said it was a good one. It been good for me |
