Is there a "trick" to unloading magazines, other than buying a LULA?

i use the back of a cheap pen instead of bullet tip.  you can also use the delrin AR take down punches.  like mentioned earlier press down on the secong rd...first rd will fall out.  get a back and forth rythm going......I can unload a 30rd mag in about 3-4 sec.

I like to unload my magazines at my foes.

You can do it by hand, as described above, but that way sucks.  Get yourself a lula and some more mags.  I have like ~20 or so that I keep my training ammo in, and even more that just stay loaded with other ammo.

Hold the loaded magazine horizontally with the bullets pointing down towards the ground. Using the nose of a loose live round, push in on the SECOND round in the magazine. This will release pressure on the top round and it will fall out of the magazine. Rinse and repeat until the magazine is empty.

Basically, you are replicating how the LULA works, but without a LULA.

++1  Easy as heck once you've done it a few times and it doesn't cost anything...

Yes, but you have to kind of hold on to them when you get towards the last rounds, otherwise it'll pop off.

I just shoot them.  If I need an empty mag I grab one of the ones that are empty.

Yup and you don't have to worry that you forgot your LULA at home, or in the range bag in the car.
