What is a good way to join magazines? Do you like them? Which is the best way to carry spare magazines?

I can see from the lack of responses that there are not many out there who join their magazines. Oh well, thanks for reviewing my inquiry.

tried a few different types hated them all. the weight and configuration was just off balance and goofy to me.

i installed a redimag on my rifle and really prefer that. allows for independant use of the mags and still keeps a loaded mag in the correct position for a fast reload. they aren't cheap but they work REALLLLY well.

This is what I have also found. Nothing really fits nicely. I do like the "Redimag" but the price is a little high for me. But I do think it would work very well. Maybe I can save my pennies. Thanks for the response.

For carrying a spare magazine I really like the nylon Blackhawk collapsible stock magazine holder.  It attaches to the collapsible stock and will carry one extra magazine.  It doesn't interfere with my shooting at all.

As for joining magazines, I haven't had any problems with my "buffer cinch".

keep an eye in the ee and on ebay. i have seen them as cheap as 25-30 bucks used.

there are 2 generations.
gen 1 drops both mags when the mag realse is pressed

gen2 allows for independant mag releases and a few other minor things.

some guys had issues with the gen activating the bolt hold open lever but i have not seen that with my gen2.

I had my mags in pairs (IDF couplers) and the odd mag changes (between mags in the pair) was really quick but changes between pairs was really slow.

Better to keep the mags separate and make all the changes the same. Get more mags in your pouches as well.

The M4 carbine with Optic, BUIS and light is already heavy enough. If you can't get it done with 28- 30 rounds...start moving, and reload quickly!

Tack

I just bought a mag coupler but haven't used it yet.  I've got a Practical Rifle match this weekend so I should know by Saturday night whether or not it is an improvement.
