I'm new to the AR thing.  Why make a stainless mag?  Aluminum doesn't rust, so I'm curious why C-Products offers both.

Longer lift and stronger material but I would worry more about getting good quality mags then the material there made of.

Yes, it is well known that the longer the lift, the better is works.

A fix for a non-existent problem.

+1  I think the Pmag is a much better idea, if you must use non-GI mag designs.

Cproducts probably put out the Stainless mag due to the popularity of the HK 416 mag that folks rave over.  CP put it out for a lot les money then the HK at $40+.  CP sold a lot of them as has HK.  I persaonally don't own either.  I would rather have 4 USGI then one HK.

edit- oh perhaps what you are asking: stainless steel will be a more durable magazine if you are jumping in ditches and the like

High power shooters like them because the stainless steel is thinner than the aluminum or the HK steel and the way the magazine is formed, it allows you to load the 5.56 to a greater OAL for long range shooting than in a standard mag.
I understand that it is made from a stainless spring steel which also allows the feed lips to have greater strength plus some flexibility to return to its' original shape should it be dropped on the lips

Stainless is  stronger but weighs more.  How important is this I don't know.  Has anyone tried to run one over yet?

Patrick Sweeney, in his new AR-15 Volume 2 book, shows his truck parked on a C Products stainless mag.  He stated it work perfectly after the abuse.

I disagree USGI mags get dented much easier in the military where a mag is disposable that might not be a issue but for me on the range it is, C Products SS mags have a definite niche.

I own a pair and I like that.  Just slightly heavier but built like little tanks.  They get abused and like it.  My Teflon beauties are more of my range queen mags.  MarLube can scratch just by looking at it, so they get the kick crapped out of them!

I've made the CProducts SS as my go t mags.  I have 12 of them, each rebuilt with CMMG coiled springs and stainless follower.  I will refinish with Brownells Tufcoat when necessary.
These mags are tough, and they work all the time.  That said I've put in excess of 100 mags away.  I've rebuilt many, and tested all.  But', I'll probably never use them, but my grand kids might.
