Hey all,

Does anyone know if you can simply repalce the old Black Follower in old
straight 20round mags with the new green Follower of Magpuls?  Or does
this not work due to old mag design?

Sorry if someone already went over this.

I swithed to magpuls in 2 of my 20 rounders and had FTFs........ended up switching back to the black plastic.

No problems since

Neither magpuls folloers or Green USGI Gen II followers are designed to work in  straight 20rnd mags. You can make a gree follower work by trimming the legs, but why bother?  You can get correct black plastic straight 20 followers and springs from brownells.

I just rebuilt 4 of my straight 20's with perfect results.

I just wondered, due to "reliability" concerns.   All of my alloy followers has worked
flawlessly.  But, I have a couple black followers that I thought I'd swap if able.

That would be cool.  Please let me know if you remember.

Opey,

Have you used these followers?  I mean sometimes when something is redone
to be like the original its close, but no cigar.  I would prefer originals.

But, If not available these may work if reliable.

Thanks,

Is it really necessary to add anything besides the factory black 20 rd followers to make those mags run right? I have never had any problems with the old aluminum or the newer black plastic followers in any of my Colt or NHMTG 20 rounders.

I have never ever had any issues with the old alloy followers.  But everyone just
moans about the black followers in 30's so I figured if I could replace them with
the old allow follwers to CYA then why not.  But, I have not had probs with the black followers in my old 20's either.
