Are the CP SS mags worth the extra money over the CP aluminum mags?

Yes.  I have 10 to go with my 60 Alum mags.  The body will last through much rough handling.  I use my SS for rough work.  I sent 4 to each of my nephew;s in the sandbox, the same for the one in Korea.  I sent 4 to two IDF fellows I met at Ft. Huachuca.  I've heard nothing but good reports on reliability but the Mar lube does wear in the sand so they've hit the mags with a squirt of Sandstrom which every single supply sergeant in the army has.  Set them in the sun and you have an instant finish.  If you are not in the field the Mar Lube will last for a long time.  I suspect it will last in Germany also.

Thanks for the input!

I agree that the SS have been more reliable than the Alum mags for me so far. However I just got my GB order so maybe that percentage will change.

I would be very interested in the answer to that question!

I know theoretically Steel is stronger, but I would like to have first hand knowledge, if the SS CP mags are as good as GI in the reliabiltiy departement.

100 % reliability and stronger than Alu - hey what´s some €´s more? Its only money!

Gen II in alu only.

CProducts has gone back to its original proprietary, non-tilt follower in the SS mags because of problems with the Magpuls.

The following is strictly C Products response. We are waiting for Magpul to finish their total review.

As stated the main problem has been [before anyone posts about aluminum, finish reading this post] centered around the stainless steel magazines. We initially introduced this product line with our own anti-tilt follower. As we began working more and more with Magpul and have made them our standard follower we tested the Gen II in the stainless magazines and they worked well. This was our effort to work totally within Magpul. ,Because the Gen II was engineered for a standard USGI magazine [dimensionally] and the stainless steel magazine is dimensionally different we have begun to see problems that we did not anticipate Let me make this perfectly clear before moving on....the GenII works great with an aluminum USGI magazine. It would take paragraphs to explain how dimensionally if something changes in the stainless steel magazine, stacked tolerances, + or- on a dimension within tolerance etc it would affect the function of the Gen II. Fact is, the Gen II was made to perform with the USGI magazine. As agreed upon between C Products and Magpul we will produce the stainless steel magazine and supply them with our anti-tilt follower. It was designed for our magazine and will eliminate any future problems.

Before we start going on a 15 page thread on this, this is an internal problem that has been taken care of and I really do not want to go into exactly what we are changing, why etc. The problem as far as we the manufacturer are concerned has been addessed and taken care of.
We are taking care of any returns and apologize for any inconvenience.

I won't purchase SS magazines until they have the EXACT dimensions of a USGI magazine. I don't like the idea of the internal "slop" or necessity for proprietary parts.

That's ok. I purchase CProducts mags for my 7 AR's because they work.  However with the new legislation I'll purchase 100 mags at the best deal I can get.  I figure 50 C Products and 50 used GI I will refinish and rebuild.
