Who makes the best AR mags? |
| I love steel mags like the brit and singapore grey because the mimick GI mags.I have a cproducts 30 rounds ..just as good but with it being stainless steel rust is no longer a problem..its no maintenece compared to mine that I wipe down from time to time to keep em rust free. |
|
you can't go wrong w/ Cproducts if you check out the EE 44mag.com has a link you can click in their ad where you can buy 10 mags for 100 (black or grey teflon coated, w/ green followers) and receive free shipping either one is good....44mag sells D&H mags and i haven't had a problem w/ them i'm not associated with either one of the companies...just for reference |
D&H have always functioned flawlessly for me.

+1 |
Got a link to that deal. Current pricing on the website is $10.99ea with free shipping on orders over $100.00. So 10 would be $109.99 delivered. |
Ad in EE HERE. ETA: C Products magazines are really good too. |
Damn! How have you guys missed the D&H QC problem threads? Not so much recently, but there's been several of them. One of the issues was some metal burrs left on the mag bodies that were creating functioning problems. People were having to file shit off and all of this nonsense. Forget it! I don't need any of that aggrivation! |
|
I have always heard C-Products mags are the best, but since I don't have any yet, Okay Ind. would have to be my choice. Dennysguns has them for under $10 with GenII magpul followers installed, & free shipping for over $50. Hopefully they will still be on sale when I get some extra money. Link |
I am afraid you are correct. Too bad the Preban LaBelle with alloy followers could not be available today, but no doubt, would not compete with the $10-20 market. |
I just got 100 of them in and due to the problem threads here I checked each one out thoroughly and didn't find any burrs, sharp edges, etc. All seem to be 100% -- lots of range testing is in order to verify, but so far so good, as with my previous experiences with them. |
| I have fifteen or so of the D&H mags, and though that's not a number large enough to base any scientific data off of, I have had no problems at all with them. I've read the threads on the problem D&H mags, but so far I haven't had any of the problems detailed in the threads. |
|
I've got over a 100 D&H's and quite a few of the other manufacturers. People get the D&H's mainly for the finish on the mag. There might be a few mags that made it past QC. But it wasn't par for the course for this companys mags. I know someone was whining about having to file down an edge on the D&H mags. It took me 3 swipes to knock the edge off on my 5 mags that were off. I only did it because I was bored that day. The sharp edge was proven to smooth out after a mag or two of use by several members here. |
I remember the whole thread about the issuses with D&H. There was a small burr on the inside of the front left portion. All of the D&H mags I ordered have this burr on them. I haven't done anything to the mags and in 500 rounds I have yet to have any failures. IIRC in the thread people were manly reporting problems with scratches on their brass. ETA: Here is the link to the acrhive for the thread archive.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=17&t=274718 |
Your Bushmaster mags are made by D&H. The Colts are probably NHMTG which are outstanding mags too but I prefer the teflon finish from D&H, I just wish they made a straight 20 rd mag like that |

I vote for the HK mags. They cost a lot (45 bucks) but how many do you really need? I went into Iraq with 10 mags, so 3-4 for civy use is all you need. At 25 bucks more than GI mags, that a C -note. Who cares. The HK mag is the only one I've every had that I didn't feel like I could recognize from my last 6 pack. It's rock solid, has no holes in it to allow gunk to get in, has a long bottomed follower to prevent nose diving, and has a slick anti-corrosion finish on it. The only downside is the weight, but for civy use again, you only need a few. I know what mag I'd reach for if things are nasty. |
Three or four is all we need? I can tell you haven't been around this forum very long. |
I know what you said you did not mean anything by it. But Alot of people are in fear of the next ban and dont want to pay $30 for mags like 3 years ago. The next ban will be forever so now is the time to buy. |
You have a LOT to learn about ARFCOM. |
I basically agree with him. I mean... many of the fat bodies on this site have a unrealistic vision of any type of SHTF scenario they'd come up against. It's not like we'll be dealing with an occupying foreign enemy any time in the near future. Just look at our most recent SHTF scenario in New Orleans.... If you had to defend your home in that disaster, one 30 round mag would have provided you more than enough ammo for the job. I'm not saying that I only have 5 mags, but these idiots with nearly a hundred mags are living in a wild assed Black Hawk Down fantasy! Where are they going to put all the dead bodies that they accumulate with the 10,000 rounds they have buried in their back yard anyway?

Exactly. The first poster asked who makes the best AR mag. That would be HK. You can say they are not worth twice the price, or that you'd rather have twice the number of magazines by getting GI ones. Those are answers to different questions. If you want the best, get the HK's. I don't see how you could say they were not the best, unless you talked about the net weight with a 10 mag loadout. As for people who think they need hundreds of mags, it you want to, that's fine. It is all good. I'd rather have ten good mags (it's not like they break or wear out) and spend the exra cash on ammo or other guns. Rifles - 300 loaded rounds. Pistols - 5 mags. I challenge anyone to say they're ever used more rounds that this in a self-defensive mode, if they weren't wearing BDU's. |
Just because folks have several hundred mags doesn't mean they are loaded and ready for use. Nothing like blowing things out of proportion, right! I have about 10 regulated for range use. And about 30 loaded up for serious problems. All the rest are an investment. My investment in my mags are a hedge against the next weapon ban the democrats come up with. You still remember when we paid $25+ for brand new mags don't you? Blackeye won't play that shit this time. |
This is what I mean. The ban is OK! I've hedged it! I'm not targeting you specifically. But shooters who stash this and that away get complacent for idiotic legislation. It almost seems like some fr00ts WANT the ban to come back. I mean... if another ban became inevitable, I'd buy up stuff too. But doing it before it's even close to happening promotes the acceptance of quality Bannage in my opinion. |
Good point. I am sure there is some turd out there buying up ammo, mags and weapons. While secretly picking out the most anti-gun candidates to vote for. For no other reason than to make a few bucks. But..................... if all the anti-gun candidates see record numbers of weapons, ammo and acessories being sold. Maybe, just maybe, they will realize being anti-gun would be political suicide. I hope for our sake that gun control issues will become like abortion issues. And every politician from coast to coast will do their very best to side step the issue and go on to a different one. |
I don't know if there's people out there that are that sick. But look at this example... You know those Norrel full auto 10/22 trigger packs? Well that guy built a shit load of them right up to the 86 ban. He's been trickling them out into the market at a slow enough rate that the most recent release price was over NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! I'm having a hard time believing that he would be in a hurry to repeal the 86 ban if you know what I mean! |
You are missing the point ENTIRELY! ....It's not about SHTF, it's about the next ban! |
I addressed this point with these words from above.
