Yes I know this is AR-15.com but beside the factory mags which are rare and expensive, what brand and type would you recommend, and no i wont sell it for an AR or AK or anything so don't suggest it

Look around.

A while back, i found a source of NIB factory magazines for $27.

44mag.com has them advertised for $31.50, but even that seems high.  I purchased a couple pro-mag polymer to play around with, they seem ok.
Regards.

Years ago there was a company called Federal Ordnance, who later changed their name to Precision Mag Industries, that made good Mini mags. IMO these mags, and the Ruger factory ones, are the only ones worth having. The bad news is they went out of business with the Bill Clinton magazine ban. You can still find these mags at gun shows sometimes but prices are way higher than they were back in the day.

Yup, Federal Ordnance is the best.

I picked up 10 of them back in the late 80's.

I've fired thousands of rounds thru them in my Mini and had only 2-3 jams.

I've never had a problem with my Thermold mags.

There was some talk of the possibility that C Products might consider manufacturing them if there was enough interest. Judging by their reputation for quality, they are likely to be at least as good as Ruger factory mags. Why don't you email C products (I already did) and encourage them to add these to their product line?

Yup.  I grabbed about 15 or so of the PMI mags.  Many are still NIW.

It has been discussed.  There are other mags that will go into production first, even if they decide to make the Mini-14 mags.  They could make a lot of money on them I believe.

Back when I briefly ahd a mini I had excellent results with orignal Thermolds (not the pro-mag copies). In fact they worked equally well in an acquainteneces AC556. I recommend thermolds highly.

I saw some mini-14 mags at the Indy gunshow for $15.   looked exactly like thermolds, but I did not see any markings on the body or baseplate.

I'd probably be interested in getting a Stainless Mini-14 if there were a good supply of stainless mags for it. 20 and 30rd mags please

Was going through a catalog today and saw an ad for Mini-14 .223 mags by PMI, described as stainless steel 40rd new in wrap, for $34.95.  Item #PMMG0299

Delta Force 1-800-852-4445---www.deltaforce.com

Thought I'd mention it on this thread about Mini-14 mags in which PMI mags were mentioned.  Hadn't seen an ad for PMI mags for a long time.

Has anyone tried the Promag Mini14 mags?
