I have 2 magazines that will not drop free from the rifle when the magazine release is pressed.  One was a "new" in the wrap Center Industries 05-99.  The other came with my rifle and the bottom is unmarked but the body is marked 08-91.  I tried 2 NHMTG 10-01 mags and they drop free with no problems.  The rest of my rifle class were using NHMTG mags and they were dropping free no problems.  What do I need to do to my 2 mags to get them to work?  Smash them?

Out of Spec mags! Use 'em as range mage if they function fine otherwise

as far as I know there really isn't anything you can do to make them drop free if the mags are out of spec which is most likely the problem.  Like stated above just use them as range mags

Bought some new Center mags and some would drop and some not. Bought 20 OKAY mags and they all dropped for me no problem.

Can some one point me towards a Spec. that says they are supposed to drop free?

I am having trouble finding MilSpec on AR15/M16 magazines.  However, the next best thing is probably Armalite Tech Note #42 mag. grading system.  Failure to drop clear is pretty much a rotten apple according to their quality grading system.

See "Tech Notes" at www.armalite.com.

Mags can be adjusted.  It was a popular topic during the ban.

New mags are so cheap now, no real need to anymore.

Also, different lower manufacturers have different tolerances as to the dimensions of their magwell.  Bushmaster and Colt tend to have the largest magwells, others are usually tighter.

Tolerance stacking.  You get a lower with a mag well on the lower end of the tolerance and a mag on the upper end of the tolerance and you can have this problem.  some brands have better QC than others.

I have never had a preban Labelle that would not drop free.  I have had Sanchez mags that would not drop free from some of my rifles. I have had Cproducts which would not drop free from any of my rifles.

Stick with the brands you know work with your rifle.

+1 on the tolerance

I would  give em a light squeeze and see what happens.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I knew there was a reason I asked the question here.

Push the trigger guard pin and swing it out of the way.  Maybe it's getting in the way so the mag won't drop out freely.
