Hi There,
I'm new to 5.56 mags and the AR-15.  I've noticed there are a lot of 30 rd. mags out there, ranging From $5 ea. to over $50 each.  Who sells the most reliable mags that aren't $50 ea.?  Thanks for the help.

If you want some mags that will last buy some C Products stainless steel 5.56mm mags.  They cost $17.95 I believe and are worth it.  C Products Summer Time Blues Sale Link.

I was looking at the CProducts web site what about the:
30 Round Curved Magazine w/ chrome silicon spring/GRAY Gen II magpul follower.  Found here: http://cproductsllc.com/cgibin/htmlos.cgi/002855.10.1480052431812241054

I know they aren't stainless steel, but they have the chrome-silicon spring and the GEN II magpul follower, which is supposed to be really good.  Anything wrong with these?

In my opinion "most" reliable isn't really a good question...  Reliable enough, there are a number of vendors I'm comfortable with...  Just about any that build truly mil-spec mags such as C Products, D&H and NMHTG.  Look around and you can easily find those company's products between $10 and $20.  No reason to pay more than that in my opinion.

Some people like to buy super-expensive stainless or fancy springs or followers...  but I'm more than happy with a good alloy USGI grade mag.  I've got some that are at least 15 to 20 years old that still function flawlessly...  many even with original springs and black plastic followers that a lot of people poo-poo.

"...any that build truly mil-spec mags..."   I am looking for that mil-spec.  Does anyone know where to find it?

About the only mil-spec I have seen in the old Gunny saw on this forum that says, "Number them.  Shoot the hell out of them on the range.  Log in the performance.  If your weapons runs well, keep 'em.   If not, throw 'em away."

Is there a USGI Mil-Spec for magazines?  If so, would someone please point me to it.  I have been looking on the Web, but no joy.

The companies that make them know them and pretty much won't give them out.  All the ones named in this thread meet mil-spec.   So you're pretty much "safe" with any of them.

Not to be arguementative. But USGI mags use the green follower and stainless springs.  Anything other than that is not milspec. Doesnt mean its bad. but its not consistant with current military issue magazines.

for the most part that is true but there are certain companies/unit's that do get issued Magpul followers.  I don't know if they have a NSN # but I would imagine they do

Go here and read down to drawings and specifications. Goes over some things. Guess you would need to get on the list and bid to make them to get the full drawings and specs.

Not anymore.  All C Products mags now come with a Magpul follower.  You can choose between SS or CS springs.
