Stuck here in New York until at I've at least finished 2 years of college.  My dad made my year by offering me a gun for my High School Graduation present.  Currently pretty set on a RRA Elite CAR A4.  However, New York says that anything over 10 rounds makes you a criminal.  So what can I do for some hardcore reliable 10 rounders?

P.S.-I greatly aprreciate any advice from those who know their AR's, I've read the intro's and such multiple times, but message or e-mail me ([email protected]) if you guys have any more tips.

I'm just about positive that you can have pre ban 30rd mags in NY but if you are only looking for a 10rd then I would say Bushmaster has the best right now unless CProducts has one or they are coming out with one

You'll have to get a post-ban version of the RRA.  Make sure to get a chrome-lined or stainless barrel.  I believe C Products is selling 10rd stainless mags.  C Products Site.   Bushmaster, DPMS and Colt all sell various ten rounds or under mags.  If I'm not totally wrong, someone in a non-ban state can sell you their pre-ban 20rd and 30rd mags.  I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.  If you can buy the pre-ban mags, there are always ones for sale in the EE.  Like to AR Mag forum in the EE.  Good luck and welcome to the disease.

I was planning on the Chrome-Lined, as I hear they are more durable, however may give up some accuracy.  Yeah, I will be getting a post-ban.  I'm not quite sure what the law says about pre-ban magazines over 30, I'm assuming they'd be granfathered in, but knowing NYS, I think I'll check with the State Police before purchasing any.

You could ask an expert in the General AR Discussions forum.    You'll enjoy your carbine!

The rifle has to be a post ban to comply with the NY AWB, but any pre ban magazine is legal in NY. You can use pre ban mags in a post ban rifle without any problems.
