I called on an ad in the paper for someone selling an AR collection and some stuff. Went down to check it out and the guy said that he got into AR's in the mid 90's, but hadn't been shooting or into AR's for about 4 years. He had sold all of his AR's by the time I got there but had about 30 really used USGI mags. I asked what he wanted for the mags and he said $15 bucks each! Once I stopped laughing, I asked why he was so high. With a surprised look on his face he said "Dude, these things were about $35 each when I bought them new! You are getting a great deal!" I offered him $7 each and told him that now (after the ban) you can get these things for $10-$15 each, new! HE said no, and that he would have to look into it. Just another case of some poor guy who got screwed by the ban.... |

As this is a private individual, hopefully it's rare but, it's not overly surprising. I was selling firearms at a retail shop after the new millennium and prior to 2004 and still had customers coming in who had never heard of, or could not understand the implications of the 1994 ban. Seven+ years after the ban was implemented. Where there's no excuse is dealers who fail to "step into now". It's not that I want their pre-94 goods @ cut rate prices, I just want the old junk off the shelf to be replaced with a healthy supply of new stock. While retailers' shelves are stagnant with overpriced old goods, new manufacturers & their offered product isn't being ordered to replace old stocks. I would have no problem if it was decided that retailers who can't come to grips with reality were publicly flogged. ![]() Sly |
