I have a confidential client who wants to sell me some AR-15 magazines and wants me to put a value on them, since they are not his. He is selling them for a deceased buddy. My problem is accurately assessing the value. I want to be fair and I thought this the best place to get a fair assessmet. There are a toal of 6 magazines and a GI magazine carrier pouch. The six magazines include: 2- Colt 30 roud mags 2- Colt 20 round mags 1- Adventure Line 30 round magazine 1- 30 round magazine made in Oconomowoc, WI ( obscured by adhesive residue) and the pouch. So here's the challenge- What is your best guestimate of the fair market value for these items? Thank you, |
If they don't have date codes stamped on the mag body, or if the codes are before 9/94, they are most likely preban. |
Based on the info provided, I'd say you're looking at the $40-50 range as posted by mvician. Personally, my break down would be: 2- Colt 30 round mags @ $8/ea. (Possibly pre-ban, unless date stamped) 2- Colt 20 round mags @ $10/ea. (Most likely pre-ban) 1- Adventure Line 30 round magazine @ $5. (Preban) 1- 30 round magazine made in Oconomowoc, WI ( obscured by adhesive residue) @ $5. (The Oconomowoc manfucturing facility was either Labelle or Sanchez, I can't recall which. Definetely pre-ban) and the pouch. @ $3. Total for the lot: $49 (Offer $40, or round up to $50... Whichever seems most "fair") IMHO, my figures are "fair" as: Could he get more out of em'? Possibly. Could you pay less elsewhere? Possibly. Sly |
| There are no dates on the magazines and the adhesive obscured magazine says LaBelle. The deceased man who owned them was a Veteran and maybe career military. I really appreciate all you have taught me here on this particular subject and many other previous ones. I'll take these magazines out to the range in the next week and give them a thorough field trail. |
