Anyone else experience this?

I double checked and it loaded 31 rounds like a champ.

If you pushed harder, you could get 32 inside, but it wouldn't change that it is designed to hold and function with 30 rounds.

You don't have much M16/AR15 trigger time do you?

You could probably cram a few more in there if you remove the follower and spring too.

It is designed to properly function with 30 younds.

10,000 plus rounds so yes I am a virgin.

My point is my new HK mag loaded 31 rounds with the same pressure applied as to 30 rounds to a USGi mag.  Yes I know what it feel like to force feed a round into a mag, which in turn cause so much pressure again the feed lip of the mag that it will not get stripped out and into the bore.  This 31st round was as easy to feed as the 29 round, which was highly odd to me and makes me wonder if the extra lenght of the 416 mag is for a longer spring, which really why they claim it is a better mag in reliablity

It lets you download 2 rounds and still hold 30

Holy sh*t, thats funny

Magic, the lesson is that

"It is far better to have 30 rounds available to shoot at something, than it is to have a one pound block to throw at that same something."

I agree to all of that but I am just trying to figure out if its really a 31 round spring and body design to "reliably load 30 rounds everytime"

Many real world experts recommend USGI mags loaded to 28 only

I suspect the HK strategy may have been to build it to hold more than enough, so that the prescribed 30 will function as expected and sustain long term storage- loaded.

Yeah I am thinking the same as well hence the need for the longer mag body.

Woo Hoo...HK went and made a mag for the -2 crowd that would hold an even thirty......and cost $1.66  per held round......hmmmm.......versus $0.33 per held round (at 30 rounds)/ $0.35 per held round (at 28 rounds).  Which is the better buy?
