| Got a 20 rnd Colt mag that holds only 5 rnds. When I took the floorplate off I found what appears to be a metal band to block the mag. Are these common? The metal band looks to be factory installed. Thanks for the help. |

I've removed the block from 20 rd mags that limted the mag to 10 rounds, had to drill out the rivet holding the block in from the outside of the floor plate, then just remove the floor plate, the innards, and reinsert the innards minus the block. You have nothing to lose by trying to remove the block, 5 rd mags are pretty useless IMHO. |

If you want to sell that 5 round mag I would be willing to buy it from you.I need one for a hunt in Maine this comeing January and they only allow 5 shot mags to be used. Thanks a bunch [email protected] |
| I grabbed one of those Colts by mistake last week for a carbine class. In addition to the normal capacity magazines, we were told to bring a short one for the prone portion of the class. I grabbed a 20rd laying around and it turned out to be the one from my 1991 blue label 6530, when the "Transitional Prebans" were being sold. Time for a beer and a Dremel... |
