I just bought a couple of 'brand-new' in plastic wrap Okay Mag. Beyond what is in the Mag FAQ, can anyone tell me more about this -- 1. Plastic wrap is transparent, with '12 pt size'-markings -- "MIL-B-117E TY. 1-CL. B-ST.2 EDCO 01/87" 2. Mag came with a description in paper -- "FSCM 192000 P/N 8448670 MAGAZINE CARTRIDGE 1 EACH DAAA09-86-C-0767 A 5/87" 3. Magazine itself is colored grey, powdery in texture. I applied teflon oil and it smoothen the overall texture and darken it overall. 4. Mag came with original black follower. Floor plate is standard Okay Ind. |

Sure- send them to me and I'll let you know how they run! You about covered it. No real value over any of the other USGI's. They should have exhibited light insertion marks right out of the sealed bag from the magwell gage. Upgrades might be Magpul followers and floor plates. |
Without looking it up, I'd suspect the mil- marking is for the pkg not the mag The FSCM is the Contractor or design holder designation (CAGE). Yours should read 19200 (too many zeros on yours) which is the U.S. Army R&D Command. P/N 8448670 is the part number. One of 3 they are known by which are all related to the same NSN. The DAA number is the contract they were bought on and 5/87 is the contract date. Not sure why, but large numbers of the mags off that specific contract found their way into the civ market during the ban. No known problems with them though. I think total awarded qty was 2 million+ so no surprise some were left over. It may have had something to do with the follower change too and the blacks got surplused as newer mags got delivered. Back then they were worth about $4 new. |

Well there was a message several years ago about "O'kay" or circle Kay magazine about several lots requiring to be DRMO because of faults in manufacturing, these mags caused allot of misfeeds when the Marines issued them for the M4 tests with 3 Bn, 2nd Mars back in the late 90s. I am pretty sure in the near future there will be a similar message about Center, they tend to not feed well off the right side feed lip. |
