I've tried searching for this, but came up emtpy ........ I'm updating some old OKAY mags, and I ordered green followers from Brownells to replace the black followers in the mags. The black followers just tilt in and out of the mag, no problem, but I'm having trouble getting the green followers in. Is there some trick to this? Thanks in advance ............. |

Well, I tried that, but I can't seem to get the follower under the metal tabs that secure the floorplate. I thought the followers might be out of spec (they are from Brownells / Peace River), so I compared them to some followers that came in a few new Colt mags that I have, and they appear to have the same dimensions. I think I'd be OK if I could get the front of the follower started into the mag body, but I just can't seem to do that. |
| I've found that if you install them front first, at an angle... but make sure you tilt toward/install the side _without_ the raised bullet. I found on some of my more banged up mags the raised bullet mold would catch on the tabs or the indentions of the magazine body, both on insertion of green followers and removal of them. So, just tilt, install the front, tilt the same way and drop in the back... simple. Of course, if you don't want to trouble yourself with all that hard tilting, magpul anti-tilt followers drop right in... (they mean anti-tilt in more than one way :D) |
