Hey guys, I want to upgrade a bunch of old 30rd USGI mags I have and some 30rd no-name new mags I bought and I got some questions. I want like-new mags that will be totally reliable and not cost as much as a new mag to upgrade to. I'm thinking magpul followers 1st. Will these fit in USGI 20 rounders? As far as new springs, any suggestions? I've seen the chrome something or other that are supposed to be #1 but they cost almost $5. The same site had USGI springs for $1. What to do? I also need some new springs to upgrade my USGI 20 rounders. Next, I need 2 new springs for some USA 40rd mags. Where can I find any of these st good prices? Right now I am using make-shit* magpuls. I took a piece of bike tire inner tube and cut it into about 3/4" sections and slipped around the base plates. Not the best but they work. Is it worth it to buy real magpuls? Next, refinishing bodies- I'll probably do that myself. What is the best stuff to use? I want to be as close as possible to Mil-Spec but I want it to hold up. I hear Permaslik is pretty good. What is the difference between Perm G and D and any other letters? Any idea where I can find some new alloy followers for my USGI 20s that won't cost me a limb- I hear they are few and far between. Any help is appreciated. Semper Fi! -Zak |
While it may be worthwhile to repair USGI mags, I can see no reason to mess with USA or other crap mags. Even after spending good money on a bad magazine, the BEST you have made is a range mag for FTF drills. |
