Am I the only one who prefers the steel SA-80 mags to USGI aluminum? I have many of each, and to be honest they have all functioned as they should. To me though the steel mags just feel more solid/ durable. If I were to have to depend on the AR in crummy situations, I would opt for the stronger steel mags. Am I alone?

I bought several (~30) of the SA80 mags during the ban.  Apart from a few easily corrected seating problems, they have all been 100%.  That being said, I'm currently buying up a lot of the CMMG black teflon mags with magpul followers.  I will use these for my field/survival mags becuae of their much ligher weight.  I'm planning to keep using the SA80 magazines for training, because their steel construction should hold up well for a long time.

The steel mags make great range mags.  They are durable, generally reliable, and (during the ban) inexpensive.  For a SHTF scenario, though, I only go USGI.  Accept no substitute.

For a SHTF scenario the SA80 mags would be to heavy and rust to quickly.
I prefer Okay mags.

I bought 14 of the steel mags from CMMG, who supplied replacement chrome silicon springs and green followers.  I put in the supplied springs and followers and they have worked perfectly.

The mags are no more prone to rusting than the other steel parts on your AR-15.

I also prefer the steel SA-80 mags.

We have a few hundred Labelle teflon USGI's and about 100 of the steel SA-80 mags.
All of which were hand picked from a lot of 1200. So I'm very comfortable,
they have all tested perfect, had the springs replaced and had green followers installed.

THE SA-80 mags are what I will trust in a SHTF scenerio.
