| I have a idea and wondering if it is ok? I have a bunch of Ruger Mini-14 crap mags that I would like to break and then get replacement mag bodies for the AR would this be legal? |
|
The economics aren't good on New mag builds with bodies and kits. By the time you get the Spring/follower/floor plate, and a mag body, you could have bought a whole NIW preban mag. You're just as well off to buy complete AR mags. Pre ban mags are getting cheaper as we approach the AWB expiration. |

Right now, it is illegal to modify (which includes parts replacement) a high-cap mag so that it cannot fit into the gun it was originally designed for. AR mags won't fit into Mini-14s, so, replacing Mini-14 mag bodies with AR mag bodies would be illegal. But, as has been pointed out, it would be much easier, and also less expensive, to sell the Mini-14 mags and buy AR mags anyway. Plus, the AWB is going to be gone in 2.5 months, so prices for AR mags will be even lower (and will make mag body replacement even less practical). -Troy |
As far as Magazines go, the AWB of 1994 sunsetting won't mean anything to people living in Kali. The lovely state that you call home restricts mags that were not in state by 01 Jan 00 (think that's the right date) to 10 rounds. |
DAMN, I HATE THIS STATE... DIANe FRANKENSTIENER and Heer followers.....Don't know jack crap about firearms........I think that FRankenstin just picked what she calls "gun control" or now changed to "Gun Safety"--(since gun control hasn't decreased crimes at ALL so she decides to give it a new Topic name hoping to change the thoughts of voters that it's something new and is not still "GUN CONTROL")...basically Frankenstien didn't really have a choice of a topic to stand behind so she picks this topic, just so she can have a job and something to look forward to working with... Just want to move out of this state to Oregon or some other gun friendly state and that's got good hunting grounds |
