| I discovered that many of my 20-rd mags have rusty springs (they're probably older than me!). Anyone know of a good source to replace them? Thanks. |

Quoted: I appreciate the info, but $8 each? Ouch! Anything decent that's cheaper? Can I cut down new mil-surp 30-rd springs? Thanks I've heard talk on here that you can cut down 30 round springs but you have to get the cut exactly right. My personal thinking is why would you want to risk problems with modifying a spring designed for a 30 rounder. Spend the extra money and get something designed for what you need. Afterall you could use a mag to save your a$$ one day. |

dogcaller, I too noticed that a couple of my 20rd. mags had rust on the springs. I spent 5 minutes with some fine steel wool & some CLP and got most of it off (I could have removed all the rust, but I was too impatient). I have used these mags extensively since, and have not experienced a single problem feeding or functioning. Spend some time & save yourself some money! |

I appreciate your input, guys, and if the mag springs weren't giving me trouble, I'd have just cleaned 'em off and been on my way; but they were failing to lock back the bolt after the last round in one of my ARs. I figure the springs are probably older than me (30), I might as well change them. I'm about to order some 20-rd springs from Georgia Precision. of course, I might as well order some Perma Silk, and ... You know how it goes! Thanks |
