Hi guys. I recently received 2 USGI mags, but they're DATED, which is something I never saw in the military or anywhere else for that matter. Maybe I'm not hip enough magazine wise, but here's my question - they're dated 01/92 and 03/92...are these magazines restricted in any way? Can I use them in a post ban AR-15? The dates are stamped in the side of the magazine body. Does this have anything to do with the ban? Thanks in advance Lads!

Slap them in your post ban at let it rock. Its legal for you to use, sell and buy them. DOnt worry.

Excellent, thanks for the heads up. Did they just decide to begin stamping the dates on them around that time or is there some other significance to it?

The first mags with date stamps started appearing around 1988, and date stamps were required starting in 1991.

The significance is that the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, passed on 9/13/94, made it illegal for normal folks to possess magazines of over 10-round capacity made after the enactment of the ban.

So, if you have mags dated 9/94 or earlier (or with NO date and NO "restricted to LEO/military" warning), they are legal.  Mags dated 10/94 and later are restricted to LEOs and military, and otherwise illegal for you to possess.
