I've got a bunch of 77gr SMK and I want to get some of the 77gr AAC bullet loads to try in my SR15 (not a precision rifle, but can usually hold 1MOA or sub with certain ammo types) and see how bad I am at shooting groups! |

Just happened to be looking for black hills OTM and discovered these. Going to run it through my WOA SPR and see what it does. This barrel was churning clover leafs with the black hills 77gr. OTM. Curious to see what it does, I'd be impressed if it punches an inch. I'm going to run these side by side some Federal SMK 77 grain and black hills 77 OTM to compare. Some wolf gold too.
For those interested there's a daily deal @ 10.99 right now. Just bought a dozen boxes. |

I just bought 100 rounds of their 75 grain stuff. I'm rebarelling one of my guns and figured I'd give that shit a shot and see what it will do. "Match grade" at 60cpr seems unlikely. But we'll see. Honestly, with my old eyes and a 3X acog, nothing is likely to be impressive

5-shot group from 700 yesterday. About 12”, didn’t bring a tape measure. 16” G Super Duty with a QD Can, 2-10 Trij Credo, bipod and sandbag. Mirage was a factor.
For 61 cpr delivered, I’m more than impressed. I’ve already bought 2k, I’ll be buying a lot more.  Attached File |

Playing card , on the thin edge, at 50yds. I actually was able to do it on the first try... and frankly, I didn't think I could, but Mark convinced me to try.... telling me I COULD do it.
I am glad he was persistent. We fired many more rounds, of both 77gr loads... the results were just as good. Even with Targets similar to @Molons "Quarter Minute of Angle" ( Another Thank You to Molon ) DC Machine barrel ( PSA's barrel maker ), barrel was fouled, and hot. 5.56 77gr OTM straight off the production line ( as it was dropping out of the machine )  After I got home , I ordered more of the 77gr OTM. I have to go to work, but I figured you'all would be interested. ( I have currently picked up that "you'all"phrase from SC ... because everyone says it , Lol ) |

Looking forward to this well priced 77gr OTM and I'm curious to see the 77gr TMK numbers. I'm an IMI 77gr guy right now (for my 5.56's that are never shot), but this ammo might force to do some upgrades (or a new build) to either my 16", or build an 18" 5.56.

Personally ( YMMV ) , I am going to consider the AAC 77gr 5.56 OTM load a working mans load ... a longer distance load / better BC / less wind drift / better terminal performance , and priced accordingly.
This is a bargain 77gr 5.56 load. So provided the dings aren't way out of line, and mine showed no noticeable dings, ( I will look them all over more thoroughly tonight ), I went ahead and bought more. Given the price, $10.99 / 20rds, I don't expect FGMM quality. I am slightly concerned about some of the reported velocities... but I didn't have any issues that concerned me. A quick price check at Ammoseek for 20rd boxes , 5.56 77gr loads shows the AAC 77gr OTM load at 54.9 cents per round, followed by the AAC 77gr SMK at 75 cpr... and the 5th being the Sellior & Bellot 77gr 5.56 at 84.7 cpr. IMI 77gr 5,56 ( again 20rd box price ) is 95 cpr.... BH Mk262 is $1.30 per round at its cheapest. The AAC 77gr OTM wasn't as accurate as the AAC 77gr SMK, but, it sure was consistent given its price point. ( YMMV , but I was happy ) This is 35rds at 100yds from a Krieger 20" 1n7.7, with a Wylde chamber, not really sure of the round count on the barrel, but I'd guess about 1500rds, elevation is approx. 270ft above sea level, 66 degrees, slight 5 mph breeze at 3 o'clock from the point of aim. ( Lot # SCL1CC241 ) Benched, bagged, Vortex Viper PST- 6-24x50 EBR-2C, MBT Trigger I shot at a brisk pace... IE, on POA, fire, on point of aim, fire, etc... changed / reloaded mag every 10rds ( 10 rd mag ) , no barrel cool down, between shots.. only long enough to reload the 10rd mag.  No popped primers, no function issues, case rims are fine. The 10 I tore down and dumped the powder out, of measured about 26.15 grains of a flattened ball propellant on average. The fired "primers" ( plus 3 I found in my pocket later ) may look a little flat, but I can't help but wonder about the primer cups themselves. How thick / "malleable" are they ?   FWIW... I also fired the AAC Horn. 75gr load, and the AAC 77gr SMK load... no function issues there either. I am very curious about the other folks having popped primers in various AAC 5.56 loads.... If anyone that popped primers could add specific's about their specific ammo, barrel, chamber, etc... I would appreciate it. I will try to get a chance to chrono these, next time as well as fire them in other barrels . Bottom line for me... I ordered more of the AAC 77gr OTM 5.56 load. |

Plus this wasn't unheard of, one Google search shows that this wasn't just experienced by me at all so we need to focus on that. If you do not want to then I will not enable this slide then. So are y’all seeing any cases that AREN’T dented to shit? My shipment that came in today is dented in at least one spot on every round.
Much worse than anything I’ve ever seen from bulk Federal XM193 |
