| IMI green and tan box M193 made in Israel by Israeli Military Industries. Independence blue and white box M193 made in Israel. What is the difference if any? |

No difference, they are both made by IMI in Israel. Just imported under different names. I am curious if it is loaded to Federal specs... some of the first "lots" were excessively hot. Winc. years ago ( '99 ? ) had a similar issue with some IMI loaded Q3131A. The current lots seem much more forgiving. |

A federal rep in the past stated that Federal was shipping IMI the components, and then IMI was loading the ammo with FC's components, and to their (FC's ???) specs. Independence ammo is not the same quality as IMI branded ammo, IMHO. That said, it's not bad ammo either. ETA: here is a quote from this thread where johndm1967 noted what he was told by a Federal tech rep: "Federal Rep told me they send all the components, including raw case cups, to Israel. Israelis form the case, stuff the primer, powder, and projectile, then export back to the U.S.. I'm guessing there's some kind of tax/tariff loophole that makes economic sense for Federal to send the parts and receive finished product. Not all the Independence brand is made in Israel, but the 5.56x45 is one I'm sure of." |
| I think I'll grab some IMI. Cabela's that I pass daily has it for $7.19 a box. I asked because I have heard a full spectrum of opinions about Independence. One would think that if something is labeled M193 or M855 or any other classification it would be created to certain specs and parameters. I guess the false advertisement police don't police ammo. Regardless, I'm sure the IMI stuff will be great. |

| I am good with IMI and have a few thousand rounds. 200 or so Indy. Also have PMC, PPU and AE - the usual Cabelas store stuff. Cabelas has a 1 min online survey code on the receipt with $20 off a $150 purchase. I am using 2 per week since this is the season and got a third with a points purchase dog tracking gps. That's a lot of ammo and hunting stuff. I can't mail order ammo where I live so 5% points and a coupon makes life good. |

Q3131A from IMI was fine and what we turned to. |

I've never chrono'd it, so have no idea if it runs hot, but my guns liked it just fine. |

I've had a few popped (free from the case, stopped the weapon in one case when it lodged in the FCG) primers from IMI Razorcore. Honestly, PMC XTAC M193 has been the most drama-free M193 I've ever shot. |
