On the last post about John Hinckley Jr, it was mentioned about another exploding bullet by several of the posters.
There has been several "exploding " bullets on the market, back from the early 80's.  Think this is the one they were talking about.
Made by the same company, around the same time, the "Exploder" brand of cartridges had a small pistol primer with a small amount of black powder (1 or 2 grains) loaded into a hollow point.  It explodes when hitting a hard target producing a small explosion and a little bit of smoke.  (The Devastators were more powerful.)  All calibers were made, below is a .380acp and the original box. Also sectioned a .357mag first round in second pic.
Keeping with exploding bullets, 3rd picture are military "Spotters".  A spotter marks the point of impact, where by a tracer shows you the trajectory of the bullet.
7.65 Argentine, 54R with 7.65 fake, Russian 54R PZ, .30cal RAUFOSS fake, 8mm B Patrone, 8x56R Austrian.

It always amazes me how complicated / sophisticated some of these bullet designs are..... and still remain remotely accurate !

As always Thank You for your time and effort to help enlighten us !

I've got a couple of 9 MM Luger cartridges which were given to me which appear to be Winchester Silvertips with a small pistol primer in the hollow nose cavity.  I believe these were commercially manufactured but I don't remember the company that sold them.   I remember the exploding bullets Hinkley used but never knew he used a 22 Magnum and I didn't know the design of the exploding projectile.  Thanks for posting your informative threads!
