I traded for some ammo, but i am not sure what it is.  I know its made by Federal, but I dont know much other than that.  Any help would be appreciated.

You didn't ask about it before you accepted the trade?

He didn't know either.  I only traded value wise what xm193 would cost so I'm not too worried.  Was looking for range ammo, just not sure if this stuff sucks or I should save some of it.  From what i could find it looks like American eagle 50 gr hollow point.  I'm just not sure they would stamp 5.56 on the back rather than .223.

Or it could be reloads and you've got no idea what's inside. Hopefully it's factory and someone can help with a positive ID.

Op's ammo appears to be HP not SP.

Sure looks like the 62 grain FBI open tip training load to me, although that's made by Winchester.  Perhaps ATK built some for FBI consideration and dumped the ammo after the contract went to Winchester.

I sure hope its not reloads.  All my xm855 and xm193 has a nato cross rather than 5.56x45 stamped on it so it seems like weird brass to start with.

Except that the headstamp for mk318 isn't that...................

It's just "F C 10"....................

So I don't think its that....................

Any chance you can just pull a bullet?

I think it is something else...
Powder looks like what I've seen in federal loads though.

IDK what it is, but it looks like good stuff. Not reloads. I'd shoot a few to ensure function in your rifle then stash the rest.

Well, the mk318 has driving bands but they are NOT cannelured like the OP's ammunition.

OP:  If you are that curious, tear one down...............weigh it and you should have your answer............

Looks like some of the Federal TRU loads I had years ago.
