So now somebody took the "bolo ball' concept and is moving it to handguns. They also have 3 versions for shotguns. More crap being put out to separate a fool from their money. I don't if I should laugh at the derpishness, or weep for the stupidity (of the developer and buyers). I'll let you be the judge-> new gimmick ammo It's a long video - the concept is put out really early in a simulation, then skip to the end to see it shot against paper (and declared "Awesome").

How much penetration? Paper is one thing people is another. They have the penetration for the shotgun loads listed on their website, nothing on the handgun loads. Wonder why... The 'lethal' shotgun round makes penetration (according to the FAQ on their website). But I have to wonder 2 things 1) will the wires be stopped by the ribs thus preventing much of the penetration. 2) with a spread diameter of up to 24" for that shell, it's possible with a center of mass aiming point for all the projectiles to miss major organs (or even the target itself) - should the ribs be able to stop the wires. I'm still trying to figure out how it's supposed to be better than buckshot. |

And this has what too do with an AR15? Or am I missing something. It doesn't, but the AR ammo section is often used for general ammo questions. There isn't a general ammo forum anywhere. There's this one for ARs and one for handguns, but nothing for shotguns or other rifles. And since there are AR style rifles in 12 gauge it might as well go here. |

its sad they are allowed to sale shit like this, i guess if it looks looks like something out of a movie people will buy it Taurus Judge is a shining example. I'm fine with them selling it. It's sad that anyone will buy it. Anyone consider that this concept ensures your projectile(s) will NOT hit where you aim? Ignoring that little plastic center thingy, of course.

Your going to get more muzzle velocity from a shotgun than a pistol, so that's kind of dumb. The next point is a toss up. Is it better to hit something with one 230 or with one approx .45 diameter with the bullet weight around 100 grains. I would also be concernd about penetration especially thru heavy clothing. That large face of that sideways flying 1/3 of a bullet is going to loose a lot of energy. Also I don't know if I like the idea of let's aim and hope to hit somewhere in that 10-14 inch area.
This is a gimmick and pales in comparison to the performance of an HST/golden saber/gold dot type defensive pistol ammo Shoot some pigs are gel and I'll revisit my opinion. Maybe they can use barbed razor wire instead of the fiber |
| 'Chain shot' out of artillery was used in the Civil War against charging troops and was greatly feared. It had already been used in Naval warfare to cut rigging, masts, sails, etc. plus clear the deck pretty damn fast too. It would be ridiculous in a handgun and just about ridiculous in a shotgun, although I'm sure Batman would have it in his arsenal. |

FYI back in the 80's there was a company call Multiple Munitions Ind. or MMI.
I still have some of their 357 mag rounds. They loaded 2 60 gr wad cutter and one 125 JHP bullet into the 357 cartridge. This was a total of 245 gr. Firing from a 2-1/2" S&W 66 at a 25 ft. target, I would get the main 125 JHP exactly where I aimed and the other 2 wad cutters would be within a 2-3 in circle. They sold the rounds in boxes of 10 rounds & I have forgotten the cost. A reloading person could do the same. Gary |

just stupid. I concur. +1 the comments on that video were funny. People thought it was a million dollar idea Oh, don't get me wrong. There are enough idiots out there, that these guys will make a pretty penny off this goof. I have no problem with them selling it. Go capitalism. Now, I want the 7.62 timed frag bullets from the move Elysium. Magic bullet
