| I found some .223 blanks and the website says i need a BFA (blank fire attachment). All that is is something that blocks the gas from escaping down the barrel wihout a bullet so it can cycle the gas system right? Can one be homemade |

Trying to build one yourself is probably a bad idea.
Blank Firing Adapters do not simply plug the barrel, they restrict the amount of gas to provide enough pressure to cycle the action. They allow some gas to pass through. They also come in two sizes, red ones are for rifle length barrels, yellow ones are for carbine length barrels. If you want one, I would try some surplus stores, I have seen them for like $5. |
| Blanks are filthier than .22LR ammo. And a blank adapter is built to let a specific amount of gas out the muzzle, not block all of it. GI blanks are actually dangerous without an adapter; the blast is pretty spectacular. They are NOT toys, and it's pretty clear that most jurisdictions consider discharging blanks "discharging a firearm." |

God I hate blanks when I went to wlc last year part of the packing list was m4/m16 with BFA. I was thinking for DNC or movement techniques, we went to the field for 3 days at the end of the course and they had enough blanks for everyone to have a full combat load (210 rounds) I wish I could have taken pics but cell phones were prohibited and I had cleaned my m4 before I turned it back into the arms room. I feel blanks are worthless and should be avoided IMHO. The only thing I would use a blank for are the golf ball launchers and it would be with great moderation

I have and have used one of the "Hollywood" blank adapters. The danger is that no one but you know it's in there. What if you forget it's in there and fire a live round?
I used the ''Hollywood" BFA to make a video back in high school. It worked fine but I made sure it was removed immediately after we were done filming... 1DD |

Man, do I see major FU if you install that one. |
