| Has anyone else had a problem with Federal Premium .308 168gr Win. Match? I went shooting to the range with my Remington 700 PSS and from the 6 rounds I fired 2 had split cases. I bought a case of the ammo in 1992 and have kept it dry and stored in a GI ammo can in its original box. I called Federal and there reply was that the ammo was suffering from Corrosion stress and they cannot replace the ammo due to the age. What a bunch of BS. I bought to ammo directly from a distributor. I have been shooting long enough to know what corrosion looks like and the ammo shows no signs of it. I live in Nevada and we don't get a lot of moisture here. Shouldn't a manufacture stand behind there product. They did not even ask for any pictures. |

Need pics. I've seen corrosion wreck ammo... but being in your climate I doubt that's it. If it was truly the ammo, There'd likely be a wide spread issue that Federal would know about... especially this much later from original production.
Does the gun shoot other ammo with no issues? |

So the weakest part is the base of the case huh. Its a BS excuss. Fed is smoking crack, I would pull a bullet, take a pic to show no corrosion then see what they would say about that. |

Here is the latest reply from Federal after I asked them just to replace the unused ammo.
No, like I said before this cracking is due to weakening of the brass at that point. It’s what we call stress corrosion cracking. The ammo is 21 years old and we have a stated manufacturer’s warranty of 1 year. We can’t reimburse you or send you replacement ammo due to the age. Thanks Federal Ammunition So unless you shoot all your ammo within a year they will not help you out. GREAT Customer Service. What a way to stand behind your product. Also note they still did not answer if there was a issue with the ammo. Federal just lost a customer. |
| GT. HELL Yes I expect them to replace it or at the very least tell me there was a recall on the ammo. If you store ammo when it is available and cheap then you may not always use every single round. If I had stored the ammo incorrectly then it would be my fault. I don't know maybe I expect to much for a manufacturer to stand behind their product. I did not want the money but at least work with me so my RIFLE did not blow up in my face. I can send you some and you can try it out for me. |

They have no way of knowing that you actually purchased the ammo new in 1992 and stored it correctly since then. Your expectations are slightly insane. Call other ammo companies and see what they would have done in the same situation. |
