Ok so I have several different brands of ammo I have accumulated over the last few months, all 55gr fmj. My question is this. Can I just dump them all in an ammo can mied up and expect them to be pretty close in accuracy?  I know it sounds crazy and I'm sure I am a little OCD but I hate all the different boxes, I would rather just have them loose in ammo cans.

No.  Some may be 223, some 5.56, some m193 spec some not.  You may get wildly different zeros, and terminal effects.  I keep them separate.

No, all 55 grain ammo is not the same and will not group the same.

I have one can filled with loose .223 55gr fmj rounds.  All brands mixed.  This is my plinking can.
I have another can filled with loose 5.56. This is my Just in Case can.
I have another can with boxes that are hunting/tracer rounds (left in their boxes)

If your not out for pinpoint accuracy, it's easiest to just dump them all in the can.
If you want precision shooting, and you have some ammo that's not as accurate as others, then don't mix.

If your like me and just shoot 100 and 200 yards....no big deal to mix them.
