Has anyone done a gelatin test on bi-metal HPs and SPs? I read different accounts of it will, or won't expand, or if it does it's very little.
Most say the SPs are what they use for hunting, tho some use the HPs. Whether it's legal to do so or not, if the rounds are just marginal I would hate to make an animal suffer from a crappy round. I know people use them, but I am looking for tests done on them. |

.223 Russian ammunition in Perma-Gel
The hollow point design of the Russian ammunition that uses bi-metal jackets appears to be only aesthetic, offering no significant variation in terminal performance when compared to full metal jacket rounds constructed with the same bi-metal jacket. |

Knife_Collector, for example, which bullet are you interested in? Soft points come in more than one flavor as do hollow points. Are you talking varmint with a 223? Or medium game with a .30 cal? Which accounts got your interest? I was just interested in the hunting capabilities of the 223 Russian HPs and SPs. I guess the HPs don't do a lot of damage. I hope the SPs are better. |

Yea.. so I see. Thanks for the link... now to find something on the SP ammo. |

Yea.. so I see. Thanks for the link... now to find something on the SP ammo. I shot a coyote with Silver Bear HPs. One through the ribs and DRT. I know it's only anecdotal, but I wouldn't hesitate to shoot 'less than deer' game with the stuff. |
