I'm pretty much at bingo ammo for my AR, and after today's SCOTUS ruling on Obamacare, I"ve been thinking about my ammo situation and wondering if you guys can suggest a strategy for what sort of loads to have, and how much, for a one-week scenario.
Basically I'm after just enough basic personal defense to last me long enough to regroup with other (better provisioned) neighbors.  My thinking here is that I need enough for defense to make my way to regroup, but not so much that I can't carry it all on the run.  I already have eight (empty) 30rd PMags, having read previously that about 200-ish rounds would be enough for the kind of situation I've indicated above but I'm open to suggestions.
That said, I don't know if I ought to be segmenting that between fragmenting and Barrier Blind loads, or some other sort of ammo you might suggest.  In other words, should I have five mags with one type of ammo, and three with another?  Or, should I be mixing all my magazines with different types of ammo in each magazine, and if so, in what sort of proportion?
Whatever your recommendation, I need to mention that it's for a CMMG M4 with a TA31RCOM4, so 62 grain rounds are preferred, to match up with the BDC in the scope.
Sounds like a whacky question, but with very limited financial resources, I need to make the best decision I can with what few dollars I have.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Hoping you can save me the time to do so by offering some responses to the above questions.  Thanks!

what about this decision has any implications on a one week scenario?  Just wondering.

One, your strategy should be to avoid contact at all cost, especially if you will be alone.

Two-If the above it true, then if you need more than 2 mags, it won't really matter.

Its not like your going to carry more than a couple mags, and still be able to carry water/food as well for a week

ETA if you want to be rambo, geo cash ammo along the route

Granted, but one cannot always pick and choose the circumstances under which you find yourself.  Stashing ammo is a good idea, though.

For the record, I said I had EIGHT 30rd magazines at the moment.  Can order more, if someone would please respond with some information rather than critiquing the post.

You are putting way to much emphasis on what type of ammunition you should acquire and in what order it should be loaded into the magazines. If you are limited on funds, M855 will work just fine. Load up those magazines and go with it.

If you have not already established an understanding with those neighbors that have gone to the effort and expense of being well provisioned, you might find them somewhat reluctant to feed extra mouths, expend medical supplies or fill empty magazines.

If you plan to just link up and use their supplies when things go bad you may be disappointed. If you are on your own, then as TaylorWSO suggested try hiding stashes of supplies along evac routes.

There probably would not be many real life scenarios where you would get stranded out of the blue. Even with the rodney king rulling, it was an all day build-up for the riots, plenty of warning via the airwaves of what was happening. So probably in the early stages of anything bad, you would probably be okay just having a weapon to display. So a weapon with one or two spare mags would probably be okay to get you home. The only problem I see is whether you are talking about a rifle or pistol? A rifle is going to have to be a trunk gun because you are not going to be able to carry it around with you everywhere on a daily basis.
