I'm sure there are threads on this, but I searched and nothing came up.

What do yall do with rounds like this?
I've seen plenty of minor dents, but this one looks like it was rather forcefully struck by something.

I'm going to guess Lake City, and not Federal????

Is the bullet really seated as shitty as it seems? Let us know what brand.

It was surplussed/rejected for a reason. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it.

I would shoot it. The dent won't be there afterward.

Having said that, if that dent were on the shoulder, I wouldn't shoot it.

Why does it look like the case has rifling grooves on it?

I don't think it's Lake City.  Although some of the last 2000 rounds of M855 I bought from them had small dents none were crimped like the rounds shown.  None were dented a badly as the first photo either

the dent does not matter.  you won't even be able to tell when you pick the brass up off the ground.   I have fired rounds so dented I had to use the forward assist to set them.  Even those look perfect after fired.  Some guys have mentioned the marks on the neck.  I have shad them with that type of crimping.  Looks cheesey but never had a problem with feed or accuracy on those.

Segmented 'squeeze' crimp - I've seen it used on Win Q3131 and IMI M855 to name a couple.

I have seen some American Eagle that looks like this. Green Box 62 grain. I'm pretty sure it is lake city rejects. Wideners has the 1200 round cas of IMI in stock right now. Better get some while you can. I think this is the best penetrator ammo out there right now. It not dented crap that everyone else is selling.

It's the Olin M855 that academy has.

The IMI m855 has the same bullet crimp as the one above.

I had a piece of brass I picked up that had a crease in shoulder, I reloaded it and fired it, you can barely notice the crease now. General rule of thumb, brass is so soft that if you can get the bolt to lock your fine.

All of the Federal and AE ammo will be from the Lake City armory and will be stamped as such. Some of the Olin stuff I've gotten has had either WCC (Western Cartridge, a division of Winchester) or WC (Winchester Cartridge) stamps on them. PMC makes X-TAC tin Korea, IMI of course is Israeli.

Federal does state that their XM855 and XM193 are not reject lots (therefore neither would the AE stuff be) but I haven't quite been convinced of that from the sealed LC ammo I get (there is a huge discussion of this going on the M855 Obsession thread).

Thanks for all the replies, and yes this is stamped WCC.
