Not ever claiming to be any type of distance shooter, I've always focused and trained on CQB styles...25yds and in....blending speed and accuracy.
Decided to give 100yds a run today just to see how I'd do.

Rifle used was a S&W MP15T with my new TA31F. Ammo used was XM855LC-A1 (The 'Not For Duty Use' stuff), fired from the bench at a 3" orange target.
Temperature was 68 degrees, with a 12-15 mph crosswind.

First 9 rds (doubled the upper left)

Most groupings were around this size, some better...some worse. The more I shot, the more tired I got.

Here's the last three rounds (which may have been a fluke). I quit after this.

I really noticed the amount of creep in the stock trigger, and the wind was problematic. Exterior forces aside, is the first 9 rd group considered 'acceptable', or am I lacking here?

Given the ammo/gun combo, perfectly good.  It's not a match barrel, nor is that match ammo.  I wouldn't feel bad at all.  Nice shooting in fact.  L2B

Was that offhand?  (standing with no rest)

No. A rest was used.

I have the opens set for 50yds, which is what my old EOTech was zeroed for. Suppose I just got used to smaller groups.

Yes...I realize I've doubled the distance

A zombie head is bigger than that target, so I'd say you're fine.

Yes, it is good enough for proof that your rig and ammo combination would not hold you back on a short range course.

The x-ring and 10 ring of an SR-1 target are a good barometer for this topic. In other words, if your rig was within x-ring, you are golden.
If your rig isn't well within the x-ring for a 10 round group from a rest, but still has margin against the 10 ring, you are at least still in the game.

You can shoot the SR-1 target or just know that the x-ring diameter is 1.35" and the 10 ring is 3.35"

The MR-31 target represents the slow fire 600 yard target scaled down for 100 yards. You would shoot this target prone with a sling for example.
This x-ring is 0.75" and the 10 ring is 1.75"

So, if your prone sling shooting can be as good as your rest shooting, you should still be able to shoot clean based on your photos.
At least you wouldn't be able to blame the rig or ammo......

I think that's pretty good for that ammo.  Molon has a good write up on M193 and M855.

M855 is spec'd to 4MOA. While, especially at shorter distances, it is easy to see better results than that, it's designed to be a combat cartridge in less than accurate rack grade service rifles. With that, yeah, you're doing pretty good. Keep it up.

I wouldn't want ya shootin at me!

That's darn good imo for M855.
