I have heard the stuff that is for sale is factory 2nds.  How accurate is this stuff?

It seems like a great all around bullet.  Is there something out there that is better as a GP round?

Is the federal bonded 62 grain still have good terminal ballistics?

What I want is the best all around battlefield round for a 16" gun out to about 400 yards.

I read the above tacked thread and it looks like the MK318 is a good round.  I am not sure if there is something better or how accurate it is.

What makes you believe they are factory seconds?

I read in a post somewhere that they were and that the accuracy was horrible.  Then I read they were accurate.  I just want to verify that the accuracy is good from someone who has first hand experience.

Why don't you buy a little and see if it works in your particular rifle?

Thats what we all were thinking at first in this thread:

MK 318 Range Reports Thread

because the groups were larger than 2 MOA @ 100 yards, which was what was advertised on all those power points and what not.  This is what led everyone to think it was reject ammo.

But if you look at all the results from all the tests including the white box, brown box, and even a test from a military user using military ammo, all show that it shoots more like 3 MOA pretty consistently.  I doubt that production ammo ever actually did better than 2 MOA.

All this MK 318 that we are seeing for sale could very well be rejected lots but I doubt it, and if was rejected it was probably not for accuracy reasons.

I've not had any accuracy problems or any other sorts of problems with MK318.  I like the stuff and have some loaded in magazines for SHTF.

been testing this stuff for a couple of months, in my 16" guns it is on par with XM193 for accuracy, under 2 moa consistently,  in my 10.5" Noveske it is the queen of the ball, sub moa, one five shot group of .650" at 100 yards with a 4X scope, good stuff but still pricey

I am trusting DocGCR and the Crane folks that this is a good choice to have in your short barreled rifle for serious social purposes

I have nothing bad to say about the stuff other than price....

Since when does XM193 shoot better than 2 MOA?

I don't believe you.

learn to read, not what the sentence says

I said it was "on par" with XM193, and it, 318, was under 2 MOA

in my rifles, which are all heavy barrel free floated USPSA guns with 1-4X scopes I get 2-3" 100 yard groups on demand with XM193, 1.5" groups with Hornady steel case, and sub moa with my handloads

Mk 318 is not as good as the Hornady stuff, slightly better than XM193 out of these guns and for the short barrel with low harmonics it is performing like a 77 gr match load

YMMV, for me it shoots just as good as Lake City 62 gr out of my SPR rifle.  POI is different but still well within an 6" circle at 100 yards.  Maybe an inch difference.  I was getting a 10 shot 0.804 MOA group with a 10x scope.
In a friend's 16" carbine it shot as good as 75 gr. .223 TAP using iron sights at 100 yards.  And I consider the .223 TAP to be the best off the shelf ammo that shoots consistent tighter groups out of any of my ARs.
