| Could someone tell me the date of the head stamp on recently purchased IMI M193 or M855 from Wideners? |
| Ah Lakecity. Can't help myself, but I was fortunate to take a tour of Lakecity a few years ago. All I can say is it was awesome to see how cases are made (about a 5 step drawing out process from a slug of metal), how primers are made (primer cups hand-filled with primer coumpound and sealed with a star), and the formation of the bullets (from lead core/ap to jacket bonding. And home to the all inpressive M118 for us 7.62 shooters. Sorry no parting gifts or samples were given away. |

Is the IMI M855 ammo all that???
I have Radway Green SS109, UAE SS109 & some LC SS109,I've shot both the UAE & RG with excellent results in accuracy. How much better can the IMI stuff be?? I bought the Radway from Wideners a few years back, got 4 cans & wish I bought more,Got the UAE stuff from Classic Arms last year, I think I bought 1200 rounds total & I wish I had bought 5 times as much. Now I want some of the IMI stuff before it's all gone but the price has me hesitating. What to do,decisions, decisions???? |

Molon's testing says it all about the IMI M855, check out the various links to his M855 analysis.
Royal Ordnance's Radway Green SS109 ammo is okay...I find it a bit underpowered compared to IMI and LC, with the occasional FTE or short stroke...depends on your weapon. Since I converted over to middy length carbines (longer gas tubes) and BCM bolt carrier groups a few years back, I have all but eliminated this problem, no matter what ammo (even bear and wolf) I feed my RRA and Colt puppies. |

They don't worry too much about the cosmetics on military ammo, function is important, cosmetics isn't. Hell yeah. Those black marks look like pure heaven to me! Yeah thats what i've heard. Mil spec is quality not pretty brass or looks. Best of all 2400 rounds. Hope the pics help out jmj999. |
| 2009 production...................just got my 2 cases in today and was looking @ the "dirty" casings and projectiles and scratching my head too. it looks as if they flamed the neck with the bullet in the casing; IS THAT TYPICALLY HOW IT'S DONE? the bullet was definitely exposed to an open flame...................................now if i can figure out how to upload pics i will post some. |
