I shoot 200-300 rounds of 9mm a week and pretty much just shoot Federal from WalMart (I have a pile of Winchester, UMC and Federal 9mm handgun ammo). I also have adequate supplies of Aquilla, UMC and Winchester for my other caliber handguns. Of course I buy a limited supply of high quality defense rounds for all my handguns.
When it comes to my AR's I have a crap-load of Centurion, a chunk of UMC, a little American Eagle (some tracer some not). The point is, I don't have any specialty rounds for the AR's. Am I missing something? Do I need some high quality ammo for SHTF time? |

What your doing is not really wrong... but it may be "better", or you may be more prepared, etc if you stick to a standard, like a hot military round. M193 is a good fit, probably what most people do, and its almost the cheapest brass cased 5.56 anyways. You may want to keep heavier stuff if you have a SBR. You probably want to keep something suitable for hunting deer sized game, if you have to have it during a prelonged shtf. |
| Just delivered to my office - 900 rds of XM193 compliments of Lucky Gunner. I'll repackage half of it into three bandoleers to add to my SHTF collection and shoot the rest. |
