Recently organized my ammo and am finding things I didn't know I had!!

Wondering which is preferred

Loose like on the right –– more ammo in smaller space –– or boxed –– as the factory shipped them ( on left)?

Comments please?

I box my reloads.  That way I can easily keep track of what I shoot at the range and I can take a quick inventory.

I keep 'em in the box or loaded in mags.

I've got 3 SAW cans filled with loaded mags. The other cans are filled with ammo on stripper clips and placed in bando's. Then I have a nice tracking system on the outside of the can as well as in excel.

I keep it in the factory boxes. Sometimes I get loose pack, so that is fine. But usually I keep it how I get it shipped to me. I'll throw it in an ammo can, and the stuff that is half boxes goes into the "take to range" cans.

Factory boxes, scrounged boxes, etc.  I keep the rounds organized and protected while in storage.  I also don't bother with expensive desiccant packages or devices, because I always store my ammo in GI ammo cans with great seals.

I keep mine "as shipped" and in surplus ammo cans, with good seals and labeled for quick id.

Why do you store the two on the left up side down...or is it right side up when you're carrying the case?

The two 'upside down' mags are 855, the others are 3131.

What cases are those? Where did you get them?

Factory ammo generally gets left as-is, then stored in .50 cal or 20mm ammo cans.

Reloads?  For rifle ammo: Match-grade goes in plastic ammo boxes, War-shot (whether ball or volume production HPBT) gets stored on strippers, then in cans.

Pistol reloads get stored in zip-lock bags by headstamp and load with dessicant, then in cans.... Unless it's "deep storage" ammo, then it gets vacuum sealed before storage in cans.

All ammo cans are sealed with dessicant, and have a VCI which is rotated every 12 months.  "Deep Storage" ammo cans also get flushed with Nitrogen gas.... yeah, I have N2 hanging around because I also use it for food storage.

I have a metric ass-load of ammo stored this way and it's growing all the time.  I have a "Shoot 1, replace with 2" rule.

Thanks. Those look perfect for grab and go, or for the truck load out.

I keep my P-mags fully loaded in an ammo can or 2, reloaded ammo is loose in an ammo can or 3 & factory ammo in a can in original packaging in cans or crates that it came in. All match ammo is in plastic MTM boxes.
I use the same setup with my pistol ammo as well.

Diver's Supply is cheaper.

Leisure Pro is a little more expensive, but shipping is free. They also usually carry extra gaskets, too.
