Will someone please clear up this question about Lake City ammo. I have heard very good things about it and VERY bad things. Please share youre experience with LC. Is it truly sub par, it is surplus after all. Thank you Stiletto

Lake City is currently THE Army Ammunition Plant making small arms ammo for our troops.  Their products are superb (within the standards they are required to meet).  LC is operated by Federal at the moment, and some LC production finds its way into civilian hands, but some "LC" ammunition is almost definitely made FOR civilian markets.  I have never heard anything truly bad about Lake City ammunition, though their massive production is not intended to be tack-driving fodder.  Expect 2+MOA with issue ammunition.

That's it...some people love it and some people have had issues with it.  It depends on what volume you shoot.  If you shoot a ton then the price for XM193 is probably good for you.  If you don't shoot that much and you get a bunch of blown primers you won't like it that much.

I could be wrong about this knowing little as i do. But i think Mil spec ammo like LC is supposed to be a bit more tough when it comes to the abuse it can take and still go bang. Unless you blow a primer of course.
