They drastically reduced the price and modified their ad to state that it is corrosive.  I wonder if what I bought was corrosive or not.

Samco still states that theirs is non-corrosive.

Comments?

Can't comment on direct experience, but Sportsmanguide.com is not always accurate in their descriptions, that much I know.

Very dirty and inconsistent. I had 2 ruptured case,4 or 5 ftes and 1 FTF out of 150 rounds. bullet sealant leaves a gooey mess just forward of the chamber. This was from an XD9 so your results may vary.

The sportsmansguide stuff i bought was 1970's. Which has been pretty good for me. People who bought from other places and recieved 1980's stuff are telling horror stories.

I have about 700rds of the 1970's stuff and im confident when i shoot it out of my XD, but i wouldnt trust the 1980's stuff other stores are selling.

I still remember buying new 9mm ammo for about $120/1K.  Of course, a guy could buy 1k of 7.62x39 for $75, 1k of Q3131A for $99 or so and 1k of surplus .308 for about $150, then, too....

I miss those days.

I recently e-mailed SG to inquire about this very issue.  They stated that the ammo has been deemed corrosive and they would send me pre-paid labels to ship it back for refund.  I received all stuff from the 70's and shot some of it.  Since I thought that it was non-corrosive I did not clean my guns and so far no rust has appeared.  It does help that it is winter here and there is very little humidity in the air.

I believe its because the bathc you bought (i bought too) was 1970's manufacture, and is non corrosive. They are now advertising 1960's stuff so the 1960's stuff could be corrosive, while the 1970's was not.

Sportsmans Guide thinks  that "AP" ammunition (specifically SS109) is illegal in Oklahoma, I sent them a mail with the law in it and got a dumb response.

So I don't order from them anymore.

To sell corrosive ammunition as non-corrosive is horrible.

As I said above, they are selling a completely different lot, made in the 60's. The stuff they sold as non corrosive was made in the 1970's. Its completly possible POF switched between corrossive to non corossive from 1960's to the 1970's.

I too shot 100+ rounds of the 1970's stuff and didnt clean my XD for a week or two, and there was nothing visible to make me believe it was corrosive.

Thanks for the response as this is what I am thinking as well.  I have another post here asking on how to tell if ammo is corrosive or not but I have not real scientific answers.
