Friends and I bought a few thousand Fiocchi .223 with the 40 gr. V-Max bullet in the 50 packs. . Shot them this spring on prairie dogs with my WOA 1-12 twist AR upper. It was a great round, very accurate and was flawless. NO PROBLEMS....
Until now.........Tried to run them through my 650 dillon.....Nothing but problems.....Primers are crimped in and the brass is Very Hard to size and worst of all out of the first 50 that that I ran through the press problems with the punch job on the primer flash hole. Nearly everyone was off center......On some the flash hole was at the very edge of the primer pocket. Tried to deprime on my universal decap die but just broke the primer knock out pins. What a pain !!! The brass is not headstamped Fiocchi as I have seen before. IT is marked ––––at least it looks like G.F.L. or G.F.I. or B.F.L. or something like that. It could be D.F.L. .... Anyone else had problems like this or have any ideas if it is worth trying to save this brass ??? |

I reload with a 650 also. My Fiocci brass is marked G.F.L. 07 with a nato headstamp so it is probably different than yours. I just finnished proccessing 1000rnds, they did take a bit of force to deprime but only had 4 or 5 had (noticably) off center flash holes. Not by much, my Lee decapping die was still able to punch them out. No problems with resizing either. Mine was all once fired and I needed to run them through the super swage before I could reprime them. I have not shot any of it yet but I'm expecting it to perform well.
Edit: You should post this in the reloading forum. |
