Wideners has XM193 for $0.41 per round + shipping (shipping might be $20 at most). http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=8946&dir=18|830|845 |

Do you guys recomend buying online? Alot of shops around here arn't offering to much ammo and it's all over priced.
Any other good online places? Is it the same as buying anything else online? Door to door or FFL? Sorry for all the newb questions Also reloading will be in the future. I've heard PMC has shallow primer issues. Is one brass more reloadable than the other? |
| You're probably going to find better prices online. PMC can be had for $350 - $375 / 1000 rounds online. Even with shipping, you'll be way less than you're local shop. I just got 500 rounds of Federal XM193 for $230/500 with shipping included from ltdammo.com. The Federal is actual 5.56 and will be a little hotter then the PMC, which is .223. I have shot several hundred rounds of the PMC in the last few months and haven't had an issue. Check out some of the advertisers here and the industry forum. Also check out the availability thread at the top of this forum and you should find some good deals. No FFL involved, ammo is door to door delivery. You may have to provide proof of age (fax or email copy of drivers license), but some places just have you check a box saying you're old enough. |

Is one brass more reloadable than the other? Should you buy ammo online? YES. I buy my .22LR, 12 gauge, and 9mm at Wal-Mart. All my other ammo is ordered online (and I have more than a couple calibers that I need to stock). You'll save money online (especially compared to what your gun shop is charging). I still like going to gun shops and gun shows occasionally just to see if I run across a good deal. For consistently good pricing you usually have to look online though. I've ordered ammo online from 4 different distributors. All except Sportsmans Guide require you to email or fax a photo or copy of your ID. But Sportsmans Guide isn't too popular around here anymore, and I haven't ordered from them in months. http://www.aimsurplus.com/ http://www.wideners.com/index.cfm http://www.copesdistributing.net/index.php http://www.sportsmansguide.com/ Another well known dealer is Palmetto State Armory. I haven't ordered anything from them (yet), but they have an excellent reputation, good prices, and flat rate shipping for cases. http://www.palmettostatearmory.com/ AIM Surplus and Wideners have consistently good prices and a wide selection of ammo. I don't order from Copes or Sportsmans Guide a whole lot, but they will occasionally have a good deal on some communist calibers (7.62x39 & 7.62x54R) for my AKs and Mosin Nagants. So yeah, I'd definitely recommend ordering online. Shipping isn't usually much more than sales tax would be anyway (since the online distributors are out of state, you don't need to pay sales tax). 500 rounds of 5.56 is usually about $10-$12 shipping, a 1000 round case might be somewhere around $15-$18. |

LC brass (on the XM193) is generally very good. I've loaded a bit of PMC too and have never had a problem with it. I wouldn't pay more than $5 extra per thousand for LC brass. YMMV. As for shipping ammo, state laws vary. I can have ammo shipped to my door. Check your hometown forum for more info. |
