I just purchased several repack kits from Old Sarges and all the stripper clips have small particles (like powder) on them.  Most of the particles seem to be stuck between the brass insert and metal back of the clips.  In some cases it seems that the particles are making it hard to load the stripper clips.  Is it normal for stripper clips to have these particles?  How do you easily remove the particles from the clips?  Thanks in advance for the replies.

Will a couple passes with a brass brush clean it up?

I've had some surplus strippers with that problem.  I always assumed (without knowing) that the stuff was dirt/sand from whatever range they found the things on.

Air compressor did a reasonably good job of blowing the grit out.

Someone may have thrown them into a brass tumbler to shine them up a little.
I did the same on one dirty batch I picked up at a range....but found all sorts of
cleaning media stuck between the two pieces.  Now I take them apart before tumbling.

I just used a small flat screwdriver to slide the spring out of the stripper clip, and then scrape out the gunk and wipe em down with a rag.  Slide the spring back in and your good to go.

This.  I just bought some from PK Firearms and there was a bunch of tumbling media inside the bag with the clips.

Thanks, Mine don't look like tumbling media, but I will have to try the screwdriver.  It's the stuff under the brass insert that is causing the problem.

You can separate the brass spring part form the steel outer part. Look on the backside. There is 2 tabs of brass poking through holes in the steel. push one in with a punch, grab the end of the brass part, and slide the whole thing out.
