Does anyone really think the military will ever adopt it, or is just a passing fad?

I dont think the .mil cares about getting a better small arms round.....

that being said we will see what happens in july.

However I dont see it as a passing fad, even if the .mil doesnt pick it up other .mils are looking at it and there are federal agencies looking at it.... and even if they dont pick it up there are plenty of deer and pig hunters and other groups of people using it.....

I don't think it will fade into obscurity....I should've been clearer.  I think it represents a more accurate, better alternative to 7.62x39.  I'd like to get a Mini-14 in 6.8 for thick woods hunting, actually, but I like keeping most of my firearms in standard calibers, which 6.8 isn't one of.  Yet.

I gotcha now.... SSA 6.8 ammo should be available at cabellas soon, if not already.

the Mini doesnt have the best specs 1-10 and sammi but if you got it reamed to SPC II you could use the SSA tac loads.... I plan on using my carbine for hunting just to get black rifles into the woods.....

I'd be willing to wager that Ruger will probably start chambering for SPC II at some point, so I'm in wait and see mode.

Of course, I could just have the chamber recut by the local gunmonkey and not worry about it.

The .mil?  Who knows what they will do - there seems to be no method to their madness.  I have one rifle in 6.8 and am awaiting Titan's delivery on a second for an M4gery in 6.8.

I think it's a great round and is here to stay no matter what the mil does or doesn't do.  let's face it - they are gonna have to upgrade at some point.
