I was hoping someone would be able to answer the question about some ammo I have recently seen for sale in several places.  


It is Lake City head stamped and comes 1,000 rounds loose in a cardboard box in a plastic bag. The box is marked M855 and the ammo is green tip.


I want to know if it is true lake city or loaded with LC components. I have heard several different things about it and was hoping someone on the forum would know what it really is. I have heard that it is seconds that do not get to the military; I have heard it is loaded with new LC brass by another company, etc etc.

Its LC loose packed. I'd definitely hold onto it.

Where in AL might this be?

Don't worry, it's not like I'm going to run over and buy $2,000 worth.  I just bought some Fed value packs at a Huntsville Wallyworld.  The wife said "So now I can go spend $150 on horse tack?"

If the ammo is unpolished and it has LC 08 on the base it is Lake City. There's been a lot of that kicking around lately.
