Agreed. Looking back on the previous election years, sandy hook and other events, some of them took at least 6mo to a year to settle prices. This particular scare I think will take a couple of years to get close to normal pricing. Kind of like the 2012 election... And that might be a best case scenario without any executive orders scaring things right back up to where it is now.

So just a few thoughts and observations so I'm not completely derailing

-I'm am actually getting regular emails from places like Palmetto, Atlantic Arms and GrabaGun (.89 CPR for all bulk 115gr 9mm in stock $44.95 for a 50rd box of 9 )... but sheesh those prices. I'm stocked well to weather the storm, but I like to replace what I shoot. That's part of how I was able to sustain bi-weekly range and occasional training.

-I actually just backordered a 1000 case of x39 Wolf Steel back in October for .23 CPR and I thought that was high lol .. well, Sportsmans Guide delivered back in December to my amazement. Sportsmans guide at least didn't get stupid with their pricing until after the election. And it wasn't too stupid, but its getting close now. And now they're not even taking back orders. I would assume that is all driven by the manufacturers.

-What is pissing me off right now, is Winchester. They are cancelling some of my back orders due to "No longer Manufactured", changing the FKING SKU to a different number, and then re-marketing backorders for the EXACT same ammo for 3-4x the price! Because they can...

Last time i went to check out on this (yesterday) i only wanted to buy 1 box and they get you good with the original price of 76 cents a round but hit you with a handling fee and tax (most ammo places i order from online dont add tax)
and in the end with shipping ends out to about 95 cents around depending on where you live for your sales tax, but i guess if ur going to buy 1000 rounds plus this might be a good place to do so

More Grendel ammo available (well, they have 3 boxes)...and only $120 for a box of 20.
I would never buy from this place

Are the ammo producers overseas not selling to the US right now? How about russian manufacturers? There's no way it's this price everywhere.

Any importers here with inside knowledge on that?

$1,000.00 per 50 rd box. There were about 23, down to 11 last time I checked so someone is buying it.

I emailed to see if the pricing was an error but haven't heard back.

Crazy.

FWIW... that is NOT the real price. That is the "go away re-seller price".

Some people are indeed buying it.... but not for a $20 / rd price.

The real price is ( after a coupon code ) pre-panic'ish reasonable.

And , you all should sign up for the various sellers e-mail specials and coupons, I did some time ago.

( And that is how I know that isn't the real price. )

Prices seems to have stabilized a just a tiny bit below their all time highs (except for 300blk). I suspect they will stay where they are for some time.

It's also interesting to see 40sw bouncing around the way it does.

Have a decent cache but I reckon I'll start working on butt-stroking proficiencies before I contribute to those inflated prices. Seems like not all that long ago rounds pushing 40 cents per were insanely high.

@dac15

I need to start consulting you before I list . Put up multiple 200rd boxes of .380 on GB last week as a “buy it now” per unit price that came out to $0.75/rd.  It sold out in under 10min, I got real confused when I couldn’t find it in my active listings.  One reseller bought it all

Is that 300blk price based on fmj?  I had a couple cases of my preferred load come in, so now have some 150gr XP to sell that was just safety net.

@TSU45 yep, not surprised! ammo manufacturers are pumping out all the 9mm they can so the "off" calibers become harder to find.

the only filter I have on the 300blk pricing is brass case, so it's any bullet type and includes both sub and supersonic rounds. That said, just about everything brass-cased in stock seems to be FMJ, 123-150 grain bullets.

Pine Valley is taking backorders for their 50-round boxes of 77 gr SMK. The price has gone up from $50 to $55 per box, but that's still pretty decent in the current market. Use code "buffman" for 5% off (thanks, Buffman!). The catch is that they charge up front when you place the backorder, but their website (and the backorder announcement they sent out a couple weeks ago) says that their next batch of these rounds should be ready the week of February 15:

I know nothing about Pine Valley Munitions, but don’t generally buy outside of the big manufacturers.  Might be up for grabbing a box or two to try out some.  Any QC issues with them?  Are they new production?

I've been testing their loads for almost a year now, and I believe Tactical Rifleman has been using them, as well as MrGunsNGear from time to time. Their 5.56 Speer load was their initial claim to fame. The Mk262 Mod 0 that followed was .223 pressures, but all 2021 production MK 262 Mod 1 (cannelure) is very close to the Black Hills or IMI velocity, and group sizes did not increase from my testing.

Yeah, I probably should have ordered when I first got the email, but I hesitated because it was still 3 or 4 weeks out from when they were expecting to get the production batch in. I didn't mind paying in advance to reserve it, but I didn't want to pay too far in advance. $55 / 50 rounds is still a good price these days for what by all accounts is good quality precision 5.56.

Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, is this batch a slightly different load from what I received back in November? It's under the same product listing, so I assumed it was loaded to the same specs. I don't mind either way, I just want to be sure (and avoid mixing them up). Thanks!

We've been here before and this line of thinking (I understand it) is what will keep the panic buying and prices up. I remember this talk in 2012 about ARs and the market was flooded a couple years later.

I apologize for not posting a deal

I went to 5 LGS last week trying to find an over looked Holosun 512c.  All i found was a Sig Romeo 8t with. $799 price tag, no thanks.  In Every store but one I heard/observed an employee on the phone telling someone no we don’t have any 380 acp.  In the one store that didnt, the guy told me he had turned his phone off because he couldn’t spend all day telling people he didn’t have the ammo they were after.  Sorry for no deal.

I bought on Monday from gunbroker after many weeks of watching 300 rounds of IMI M855 for $169 including shipping (56 cents per round). Come on people, if there is no demand the prices will go down. If we start saying “No, thank you” to these huge prices we will see prices decreasing.

Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, is this batch a slightly different load from what I received back in November? It's under the same product listing, so I assumed it was loaded to the same specs. I don't mind either way, I just want to be sure (and avoid mixing them up). Thanks!

From what they explained to me was they only recently made the switch to the higher velocity loading. I will try and confirm with PVM when that increase started, as I tested the better loads way back in November and the results were fantastic in regards to velocity increase vs maintaining accuracy.

Midway still has M855 in stock. Not too bad of a price.
